[VIDEO] Tika Sumpter Shares Her Engagement Story

The Haves and the Have Nots star, Tika Sumpter shared  her engagement story with the ladies of The Real Daytime.  Sumpter is engaged to her daughters father, and #HAHN co -star Nick James.

The actress took her appearance on The Real as an opportunity to get real about her relationship status. When host Loni Love spotted Sumpter’s sparkler, Love immediately asked if the bling was an engagement ring. And indeed it was!

“Yeah, I’m engaged,” Sumpter happily revealed, sharing how her sweetie proposed on Christmas Day with the audience. “He did all of these amazing things. I went on a little hunt in the house,” she explained. “And I was like, ‘Oh, he’s going to propose.'” But then the scavenger hunt ended unexpectedly. “It was a Peloton bike he bought me.”

“I was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool!'” laughed Sumpter, not realizing that an even cooler surprise was right around the corner, as her beau pulled out a letter from behind their newborn. “He was like, ‘Ella has something to say to you.’ And it was just this letter of beauty. And then he proposed.”

“It was just simple,” Sumpter said. “And just awesome.”

“It’s been burning a hole in his pocket for a while,” the actress explained. “So he was like, ‘I wanted to do this now.'”
