Ok, you can keep all your theological corrections to yourself, and look beyond the gravity of the state of our Union for just about 3 minutes. This video is a parody of the late, great Paul Harvey’s “God Made a Farmer” speech in 1978. Paul was an icon to “common sense America” for 40 years. Clips from that speech were used in a Dodge truck ad for the 2013 Superbowl, and breathed new fame into the nearly forgotten lines delivered to the nation’s Future Farmers of America so long ago. Whoever did this parody studied Mr. Harvey a bit prior to this version. I had emailed the link last year, but it came up in a recent discussion group and several requested it again.
Sometimes a little humor can alleviate the pain of reality that keeps smacking you in the face. Laughter has thus been called “the best medicine” by Readers Digest, and it really helps to laugh at yourself…sometimes…but the rest of the time it’s more fun to laugh at the other guys!
