Video: Rutina Wesley Appears on Sesame Street

Back in June, Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton) filmed an appearance on the iconic children’s TV show Sesame Street which airs Thursday on PBS. But the actress didn’t expect to talk about her day job with Elmo and Abby. The video below shows Rutina interacting with the two on camera. She admitted that working with puppets is interesting because she didn’t know whether to talk to the puppet or the person voicing it. But off camera, it seems like no one could help but talk to Rutina about True Blood. Elmo was even heard telling her his fangs were still growing in and he was trying to get on the show!

Elmo: “Can we be on the show?”
Wesley: “I’ll see what I can do. Let’s exchange numbers.”
Abby: “I’m allergic to blood. Is that a problem?”
Wesley: “It might be.”
Joey Mazzarino, Sesame Street writer-director (who clearly knows his True Blood): “Abby, there’s synthetic blood. It’s like lactose-free milk.”
Abby: “The word is ‘coagulate.’”
Elmo: “CO-AG-U-LATE”
Abby: “Or ‘clot.’”
Elmo: “That’s gross.”
