Ariel Pink is closing in on his first album under own name titled pom pom, set to be released later this month (November 18) via 4AD. Latest tease “Picture Me Gone” is one of the saddest tracks Ariel Pink has ever written with lyrics seemingly dealing with guilt and aging through the eyes of a father talking to his child. It’s suitably accompanied by a melancholic (and weird) Grant Singer (Sky Ferreira, Foxygen) directed video featuring people searching for meaning and happiness in eerie latex masks (one baring close resemblance to Ariel Pink’s face). “Picture Me Gone” might well be the most straightforward music yet to be heard from Pink – and perhaps as a consequence, amongst the most gripping songs of his entire career.
