Character Interview!
Victoria Taylor Star We welcome Victoria Taylor today to our blog.  Victoria is the star of "COMMITTED" written by John Mefford. We hope John wasn't upset that we invited Victoria here today and not her! Welcome Victoria - tell us about the book that you star in: “Pure incompetence, I tell you. The clumped sugar is harder than my diamond pendant! And the cream….good God, I think I might faint.” Victoria’s morning routine had been rudely interrupted. “Is this outdated? Just give me the damn paper and let me drink my guava juice without being surrounded by such ineptitude.”
Victoria Taylor Star The matriarch of the Taylor family had spent the previous sleepless night tossing and turning, dissecting the latest status update, wondering if all the parties could actually pull this off…the plan she had developed – all to salvage the family’s financial future.
Her steely eyes looked beyond the blurred print and she recalled a recent chess match with her nephew who was still hanging on to his job at the family business that had just been purchased. There’s a logical progression to everything. First, my dear friend Mr. Patel had to create the smokescreen by buying the business. My deprived brothers wouldn’t have a clue how to craft such a deal. They are the antithesis of visionaries.
Second, turning over the operations of this little project to my associate, Chuck, was pure brilliance on my part. His business mind is exceptional, though I’d never tell him directly. What he lacks in character he makes up with creative thinking. Except for the murder. The murder. Good Lord, I don’t even want to know all the details. It just makes our job more difficult. We need stay focused on our objective and not get distracted.
Victoria Taylor Star I’ll talk to Chuck again and remind him who architected this deal. It will save his ass as CEO of Omaha Gas and line his pockets to the extent he’s never seen. I could care less who gets in the way. Michael Doyle be damned. We must succeed. We will succeed.
Victoria slowly emptied her lungs, ending with a half-roll of her eyes. She shifted her dangling time piece around her wrist and noticed the age spots on the top of her hand.
Oh, dear…I’m fifteen minutes late to my appointment at my charity board meeting. This staff is so unreliable.
“Please bring my car around. Now!”
Victoria can you answer a few questions for me: We all want to be different, so what is the one thing you wish your creator had done differently with you?
“Oh my, putting me in a pant suit for the Christmas party…what was he thinking? I might be a progressive woman, and one who knows how to influence and persuade people to achieve my goals, but dressing in the proper lady-like attire for the event of the year is mandatory. This sixty-something body can still turn heads, I tell you. At my next social event, you’ll see.”

If you could have added something to the story, and your creator would have let you, what would that have been?

“I’m a multi-dimensional person with wisdom and talent beyond compare. I would have enjoyed serenading everyone with my unique piano rendition of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue. It’s masterful.
What do you love best about yourself? What do you like least?
“It almost goes without saying, but my business acumen is unmatched. All those silly men battle each other for political supremacy when I’m the one pushing the buttons. But my nails are simply hideous. I can’t find an acceptable cosmetologist. What is a lady to do?”
What part of the book was the hardest for you and your creator to work through?

“He’s a modern-day man, so I’m sure he thinks he knows the answer. It’s all about the details, and very few people have the brain capacity to pull all of those tiny pieces together at the right moment. A genius composer like Bach would understand.”
Is there a sequel for this book? If so, what do you want to accomplish in the next book.If not, do you wish you could continue your story?
“Heavens, I’m not at liberty to say. But, frankly, I deserve my own series of books. Look at me…I have depth, a worldly intellect, vision, and more diamonds than a South African smuggler. Ha! Take that and wrap a story around it, if you so dare.”
