The Marine Corps Ball was Saturday night. They were celebrating their 238th birthday and my son went as well, with the Marines who were "remembering our past, looking to the future".
It was a happy occasion and a proud day for me to see my son in his dress blues with his expert marksmanship badge pinned to his chest.
But, I am fully aware of the danger which may lie ahead. The danger and pain which has gone behind our military. If I let it, fear could overwhelm my life.
And yet, I trust in our Lord God Almighty, that His hand will cover us. I pray for my son, the soldiers in America, and their families as I'm filled with a whole new awareness of the courage it takes to serve.
