The Velocity XL is a homebuilt kitplane tracing its lineage to the Rutan Long-EZ. In time, the Long-EZ morphed into a wide-body design with side-by-side, three- to four-place seating called the Velocity. Kits became available in 1985, with 700 kits sold and over 500 aircraft flying. In 1997 a larger version was developed called the Velocity XL, with a larger cabin and accommodating larger powerplants. Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600mm.
