Vehicles worth nearly Rs.50 million belonging to Kesbewa Urban Council are idling and decaying, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Kesbewa Urban Council Member Chamara Maddumakaluge said.

He said that a Compactor, used in transporting solid waste, a motor grader, used in development activities, a gully bowser, used in sewer and drain cleaning, tractor engines and trailers are among the vehicles decaying at the premises.

When inquired on this complaint, Kesbewa Urban Council Chairman Lakshman Perera said that the compactor would be converted to a lorry as it is over 10 years old, and other vehicles would be repaired with the help of mechanics in the area, as otherwise it would be a costly affair.
