Glasgow's newest Italian restaurant Vapiano opens
It was a busy night on Monday, as Glasgow foodies flocked to the new Vapiano Italian restaurant on Buchanan Street. We went along to celebrate the opening and have a look inside.
It's right in the middle of Glasgow's style mile, on Buchanan Street just across from Buchanan Galleries, John Lewis and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
Do you remember HMV? or Virgin Megastore on Buchanan Street? Or are you older and remember when it was The George Hotel? Whatever you remember it's all change now as Vapiano have taken over the first floor of the building to open their first Glasgow restaurant, and second in Scotland, after the recent launch in Edinburgh.
The red carpet was out and I was suitably attired with my pasta ring and pizza earrings, Mr Foodie and I sashayed in...
So what's it like? Enter the main door and go up the stairs (there's also a lift) to a floor with various seating styles. Tables, benches, coffee table style seating as well as bar stools. I think this is where Vapiano in Glasgow will work. Different areas for different vibes. Drinks and food with a group of friends, cocktails on a date or coffee and cake with mum. There's a space for everyone.
As you can see it's modern, clean and spacious. There's room for 293 in here!
