A pair of SuperCobras attended the now-defunct Vertical Challenge helicopter airshow that was put on by the Hiller Aviation Museum.   The Army started receiving their Cobras in 1967 but the Marines preferred a twin-engine version for improved safety in over-water operations, and also wanted a more potent turret-mounted weapon.  The first USMC variant of the venerable Cobra first flew in 1969.  The AH-1W is the backbone of the United States Marine Corps’s attack helicopter fleet.   Nikon D70s w/80-200mm, processed with Aperture.
