US Army Grounds Entire Chinook Chopper Fleet Over Engine Fires

The US army has undergone the entire fleet of the Chinook helicopter, a battlefield hard worker since the 1960s, due to the risk of engine fires, a media report said Tuesday. The Wall Street Journal, which broke the story, said the extreme steps were taken because of a lot of attention.
India has about 15 Chinook CH-47 helicopters. Over the past few years, they have emerged as one of the main military tools for transportation operations in places such as Gletser Ladakh and Siachan to help Indian troops deployed in the region.

India received the first batch of the Chinook helicopter in February 2019. Boeing completed the delivery of 15 Chinook helicopters to the Indian Air Force in 2020.

Officials told the Wall Street Journal that the US Army knew a small number of engine fires in the helicopter, and the incident did not result in injury or death.

“One of the officials said the fire had occurred in the last few days,” the journal said. “The US Army Material Command landed the fleet of hundreds of helicopters from a lot of death.” Contains the alleged part of the problem, officials told The Daily.

The foundation of the Chinook helicopter that the elevator can lead to logistical challenges for American soldiers, depending on how long the order takes place, the journal said.

US soldiers have around 400 helicopters like that in their fleet.
