Upstate New York Dropped Gun Shoots Its Owner in the Ear

Local news reports State police responded to the report of a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound about 2 p.m. Saturday. Unconfirmed reports from radio traffic indicated the report was made from the Gouverneur Fire Department, though the gunshot may have been inflicted near Route 3. Dispatcher Jeremy Ward said he heard over the radio that a young man had dropped his gun and it fired and shot him in the ear. Personnel at E.J. Noble Hospital could not say whether they had a patient matching that description. Officers who attended the scene could not be reached.
