Update: Value Stock Picks for the Week of 7/16/12-7/20/12

Welcome back to the Value Stock Investing Notebook! Thank you stopping by and supporting the idea of investing in dividend paying stocks for the long term. I wanted to recap last week's picks for you since it is important to review all investments on a weekly, if not daily, basis.


It was a 8 for 20 week. 40% of my picks increased in value. A 15% gain from last week's 25% increase. We had a slight increase in successful picks this week and did find some value. Pentair, Inc.(NYSE:PNR) and Synageva BioPharma Corp(NASDAQ:GEVA) increased in value. If you invested $2,000 on 7/16/12 into GEVA, you would have gained $105.66 as of 7/20/12. A sweet profit, all in a week's worth.
When investing in value stocks you should try to hold on for at least a quarter. I like companies such as Checkpoint Systems, Inc.(NYSE:CKP) andApplied Materials, Inc.(NASDAQ:AMAT) because they are currently undervalued. Let these companies work hard for you so you can maximize your profits.
