Today, talk show host and comedienne Ellen Degeneres has something new to dance about.On September 4, talk show host, actress, and comedienne Ellen Degeneres was awarded a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In attendance was her mother, Betty Degeneres; her wife, Portia de Rossi; and colleagues such as Ryan Seacrest and Jimmy Kimmel.
Best known for publicly coming out on her sitcom, Ellen, Degeneres has been a driving force in the LGBT community, speaking out against bullying and advocating for same-sex marriage. After the overturning of the same-sex marriage ban in California, Degeneres married her partner of four years, actress Portia de Rossi. In addition to her activism in the LGBT community, Degeneres has made efforts against animal cruelty, and has a pet food line called Halo, Purely for Pets.
Outside of activism, Degeneres is best known for her popular talk show, where she has showcased artists such as Charice Pempengco and Greyson Chance, as well as her routine of dancing with the audience to start the show. She is also known for her short role as a judge on American Idol, her role as a voice actor in the wildly popular Disney/Pixar movie, Finding Nemo, and her record label, eleveneleven.
