Verdict on Until Dawn

Recap

The movie follows five friends trying to uncover the truth behind one’s missing sister. They find themselves trapped in a location with a lot of history and needing to uncover the truth before they run out of time.

Best Parts

This is based on the story strong horror slasher video game. It captures the lighting effects and the creatures in the darkness extremely well. There is a complex idea of them dying and returning to relive and face different threats. The third return is by far the funniest one, which lightens the more intense encounters in the past.

Worst Parts

If you were expecting to get a version of the video game, you would be disappointed. This is an original idea with elements of the video game. This isn’t so much a bad thing, just leaving people expecting certain thing. One character does seem to go through a lot more than others too, which could offer a bigger discussion about equality in Hollywood.

Final ThoughtsUntil Dawn is an entertaining, brutal and bloody movie.
