Story: Unicorn Store starts when Kit (Larson) finds her life turned upside down. She moves back in with her parents Gladys (Cusack) and Gene (Whitford), while she figures out what to do next. Kit takes a job as an office temp and tries to fit in with the office world.
However, her job takes her on a journey to meet a mysterious salesman (Jackson) to sell her a unicorn. Meanwhile, her parents believe she is having a bit of a breakdown. Kit continues her journey to purchasing a unicorn, meeting Virgil (Athie) to help build a stable for her.
Verdict on Unicorn Store
Unicorn Store is a fantasy comedy following a young woman who finds herself lost in life. She doesn’t know what to do next with her life until takes an unusual step in her life, to buy a unicorn. However, this helps her find herself in life and find a new direction.
Brie Larson is a beacon of joy in the leading role of this movie. It shows us just how difficult life can be when you don’t know where your next step comes from. The heart is big here and the understanding of the challenges in life elevates the movie. This ends up showing us the fine line between enjoying and living life.
Final Thoughts – Unicorn Store is a beautiful comedy about understanding what life has to offer.
