I wrote a post a couple days ago about a complicated situation that took place across multiple platforms.
Two 5N.coms were purchased on GoDaddy auctions in early September, that person actually used a credit card that was no good.
That person sold the names to Namepros member Omer Doron for $550, on Undeveloped. $190 less than they won the names at GoDaddy.
Mr.Doron then sold those names for $700 to Namepros member Draco on Namepros.
GoDaddy came and repossessed the names, leaving Draco out. Yesterday Joe Styler was able to get to all the questions on Namepros that took place over the long holiday weekend.
I commend Joe he took a lot of heat. Some things don’t have great visuals. Like a question I asked if GoDaddy would give Draco the name of the person who defrauded them?
Joe said no, and that Draco could always sue. The point I was making after that, was that I don’t think GoDaddy would ever do this, but a less reputable registrar could say look we are repossessing these names, the guy who initially bought them, he used a bad credit card, we can’t show you proof or tell you his name, but trust us it was bogus.
The thread got heated and then Reza from Undeveloped posted he would have Undeveloped refund Mr.Doron the $550 he spent on Undeveloped, which he could give to Draco.
This situation leaves so many things open to speculation and makes you think deeply about who, and where you do business with.
@Joe Styler if there’s non-public information available around this case we’d love to receive it. You’ve been hinting to having more info on the case. Please do share privately.
Since the problem at hand seems to not going to be solved for Draco & Omer, Undeveloped will take responsibility, not because we have to or are obliged to but because we want to.
We’ll refund Omer today and take the hit for this situation to avoid individual domainers having to pay up. Marketplaces/Registrars should take responsibility for the payments they secure and never forward the bill to parties that have nothing to do with a certain fraudulent transaction.
Omer can then refund Draco and clear his name as he has nothing to do with the initial auction bidder outside of our platform.
I’d still advice Draco to pursue and potentially escalate this case just to make sure that the original auction bidder doesn’t get away with this so easily. Undeveloped will provide all information & data we have.
This is a one time action from us as we’re now cleaning up other peoples mess. Anyone that feels emboldened to try to abuse our generosity or marketplace in the future will be met with the full force & resources of Undeveloped and it’s legal team. Scammers beware.
Kind regards,
Reza
