Under the Tuscan Sun (2003) Review

When writer Frances Mayes gets divorced this would lead to her having writers block and suffering with depression. She decides to then head to Tuscany and ends up buying a house (as you do).

⭐️⭐️⭐️

In an attempt to snap her out of her spiralling depression her close friend Patti encourages Frances to go on the trip she was supposed to go on and to begin with it seems as though it was the perfect answer to her current struggles. Although I think one of the main points of the film was that you cannot actually run away with your problems and it is your own piece of mind and thoughts that you really need to focus on. Not forgetting to mention that the trip was actually a gay tour of Tuscany, you know just to add in some comedy value for the straight divorcee!

The film is nice enough though from start to finish and Diane Lane is such a good leading actress and she makes it really enjoyable. Sandra Oh in support was also just fantastic as well. Although given my current Grey’s Anatomy obession seeing Cristina and Addison being a lesbian couple did make me smile. Not forgetting the added baby too!

The fact that she is 35 and getting a divorce really hit home when I am now a year older than that and have never been married, and by this point will probably never ever get married but never mind that was just something that felt strange when watching the film.
