I first discovered Under the Dome at comic con. I sat in the on the panel in order to get good seats for the Buffy panel! Sometimes when you do this you get to learn about something awesome. Other times something horrible and boring. This time it was something awesome. I love Stephen King, but was honestly kinda weirded out by the premise of the plot. A town trapped under a giant mysterious dome sounded…well…odd. Boy was I wrong. The story is typical Stephen King goodness. A small town thrust into a bizarre a creepy situation and all the horrible things and people that were already in the town bubble to the surface. How creepy are Big Jim and Junior?

I know the book and TV show have some pretty huge differences. I also know that this bums a lot of people out. I for one enjoy when an adaptation can differ from the source and still produce a quality product. One of my favorite examples of this is Jurassic Park. Under the Dome for me is another good example. King himself is down with the changes and actually encourages it. Viewing the show as almost a “what if” version of his original idea. The acting for the most part is great, and the writing captures the “King tone” almost always. Part of me wishes they had just stuck to the miniseries idea and ended the story with one season, but I am interested in how long they are going to go with the plot and where they are going next. For me this is a must watch series.
