A picture essay is the only way to do justice to the culinary delights encountered in my first Big Trip post lockdown (to the Land of the Free). To get us in the mood, here’s a scene from an odd kind of ‘town in aspic’ – old Bisbee (new Bisbee has grown up further along the road), abandoned once the huge gaping copper mine was no longer viable.
We had home-made hashbrowns (totally different creatures to the sad overprocessed items you get in fast food places), chocolate milk and even deep-fried sandwiches, dusted with icing and then served with chips.
We had fun making ourselves fresh waffles with surprisingly easy to use machines, got rather overwhelmed with the large pile of raspberry vinaigrette served alongside an already quite fruity salad. And my favorite item of all – a big fat slice of blueberry pie!
