The United Nations headquarters in New York was cordoned off on Thursday during a police stand-off with a lone man supposedly holding a gun
outside the venue, officers said.
“The UN headquarters is closed, there’s police exertion,”a UN spokesperson told AFP.
Images showed fortified police girding the man standing on a sidewalk while holding what appeared to be a gun.
According to an sanctioned speaking on condition of obscurity, the man hovered to kill himself in front of one of the structure’s entrances.
The avenue along the UN headquarters was closed to business, but meetings outside weren’t incontinently affected.
“Due to a police disquisition, avoid the area of 42 Street and 1st Avenue. Anticipate exigency vehicles in the girding area,”the New York police department said on Twitter.
