Verdict on Umjolo: The Gone Girl

Umjolo: The Gone Girl is a romantic comedy following a successful woman who has her life turned upside down. She learns her husband has been sleeping around and makes the drastic decision to create an open relationship. However, he struggles to cope with the idea that she is sleeping with other men.

This movie is the start of a series following the complicated relationships of a few couples in South Africa. It shows how one woman wants to believe her partner is honest about his cheating and wants to give him another chance. However, it seems to show the bad message that she should accept him being this way. While it does try to turn the tables on the man, it struggles to send a big enough message. It fits into the typical soap opera dramas it is going for without doing anything that is helping people feel loved.
