Story: Ultraman: Rising starts when baseball superstar Ken Sato returns to Japan to take over the secret life of Ultraman. His father has been protecting the country from the Kaiju attacks, but he needs Ken to take over. However, Ken hasn’t been prepared properly to take the role and struggles to adapt to the added responsibility required.

His latest mission sees him rescue a baby Kaiju and he must learn how to raise a baby creature. However, an evil organisation wants the baby and Ken’s baseball career is crashing for the world to see. This experience will give Ken a new understanding of what is important in life and Ultraman’s connection to the Kaijus.

Verdict on Ultraman: Rising

Ultraman: Rising is an animated action-adventure movie. It follows a baseball superstar who must take over from his father as the protector of Japan, Ultraman. He must learn what it means to take over the role and how to make his father proud.

This movie brings to life the iconic Japanese fighter and protector against giant monsters. It shows the importance of the superhero fighting against threats before getting a new responsibility to the table, raising a baby Kaiju. This adds plenty of heart to the story and shows the difficult life balance any superhero has. Most importantly, we get a villain whose actions you understand and completely understand their motives. This is a beautifully shot animation, filled with a vibrant color pallet to bring the superhero to life.
