A recent survey conducted by Best Offers Bingo revealed that the favourite Star Wars character of the British public is Han Solo.
Over 1,500 people across the UK participated in the survey which asked 'Who is the UK's favourite Star Wars character?' with the average age of the participants being 44 years old. The top choice from the survey was Han Solo who gained 14% of the vote with 218 people saying that he was their favourite character.
The top 8 positions on the list were quite closely contested. Second place went to C-3PO who gained 12% of the vote, while third place went to Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker with 11% of the vote. R2-D2 and Yoda gained 10% and 9% of the votes respectively, while three central figures from the original trilogy Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca each gained 8% of the vote with up to five votes separating each of them in the list.
The least popular characters from the survey were Darth Sidious / Emperor Palpatine, Greedo, and Wedge Antilles who only got 2 votes each. Many characters from the prequel trilogy were also less popular such as Qui-Gon Jinn and General Grievous.
The characters from the prequel trilogy were more popular with under 30s, especially people under 20 who voted for Mace Windu more than any other group. However, the characters from the original trilogy were still most popular in this group. The most popular character with the over 75s was a split between R2-D2 and Princess Leia who each received 4 votes.
