UK PM Boris Johnson to scrap Plan B Covid restrictions: Report

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was arranged to raise the B covid boundary plan in England, Telegraph reported on Friday, when government scientists warned to impose premature B plans.

Passport Covid and work from home guidelines are widely expected in Whitehall will be lifted from January 26 for England, the report said, adding that some rules about face masks remain there.

Announcement can come soon after this week, he said.

On Friday, the government published minutes from the January 7 scientific advisory group meeting for emergencies that said the epidemic had the potential to continue to grow nationally.

The group also warned that if there was a reversal of the current intervention such as Plan B in England, before the peak of the infection passed, it could cause an increase in the overall impact of the wave of inpatient.

Plan B, introduced last month to slow the spread of the omicron variant, including ordering people to work from home, wear masks in public places and use Covid pass to enter several places.

Johnson said last week that Britain could withstand a surge in Covid-19 infection without turning off the economy, refusing to impose strict locking steps.
