I don’t often drink IPAs. I’m pretty picky about what I like in an IPA, but this one was recommended by a fellow non-IPA person so I thought I’d give it a try. Uinta Brewing is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and was founded in 1993. They’ve made their appearance known in the last few years in the Northwest and have gained a pretty good following. Their Hop Notch IPA is probably the best seller here and also what they are best known for.
Appearance: Bright, Copper/Orange with an off-white head. Good Retention.
Aroma: Citrus, Pine, Grapefruit, Resin, Grassy.
Taste: Clean sweetness with a round, spritzy mouthfeel. Spicy, resinous hop character with a nice bitter kick.
Overall Impression: Balanced nicely with a clean, pleasant finish. This is a really enjoyable “standard” IPA. It’s clean with good hop character that doesn’t abuse your palate. This is another ideal beer for spring and summer drinking. The 82 IBUs are well blended into the overall character of the beer.
