Two Upcoming Beer Dinners Feature Local Brews

beer-flight-picAnother successful and event-filled Jacksonville Beer Week is concluded and in the history books. But, the beer events have not stopped coming. This week news has broken of two new beer dinners planned for later this month.  Both event feature beer from local breweries and promise spectacular eats.

On Wednesday, June 25, enjoy a five course dinner paired with beers from Engine 15 Brewing Company in Jacksonville Beach. The dinner will be held at Roy’s, also in Jacksonville Beach. The restaurant’s name is a nod to its founder chef Roy Yamaguchi who opened the first Roy’s in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1988. Roy’s is a Hawaiian and Asian fusion restaurant that focuses on seafood. Guests who attend the beer dinner can expect to find Roy’s signature influences throughout the dinner.

The menu for the evening includes:

Nairagi Crudo (compressed melon, hijiki salad, kimchee oil, smoked sea salt, micro wildflowers, fresh jicama chips) paired with (904) Weissguy

Focaccia panzanella (baby heirloom tomato, blackberry, spiced sunflower seed, curly endive, arugula, lemon olive oil) paired with Old Battle Axe IPA

Poutine (duck, pommes frites, herb chicken gravy, brie cheese whiz, citrus sweet-n-salty dust) paired with Route 90 Rye Pale Ale

Steamed buns (malt-smoked brisket, Asian style Romesco, sunomono salad) paired with Christmas Quad

Chocolate-covered cherry panna cotta (macadamia nut tuiles, vanilla crème anglaise) paired with Nut Sack Brown

Tickets for the dinner are $60, plus tax and tip. Dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. For reservations, call (904) 241-7697

The second beer dinner this month will be held Thursday, June 26 at Whole Foods Market in Mandarin. Whole Foods has been holding beer dinners since their Jacksonville store opened and is known to throw a great dinner party. Their five course meal will be paired with Intuition Ale Works beers and feature recipes pulled directly from the pages of the award-winner Cooking with Intuition cookbook. In addition, the dinner will feature a beer created especially for Whole Foods; San Jose Session IPA.

As an added bonus, guests who show their dinner ticket at the bar can receive one 4-ounce sample of People’s Pale ale.

The menu for this dinner features:

King Street Stout gouda wheat bread and People’s Pale Ale beer cheese soup, paired with People’s Pale Ale

Chinese salt-and-pepper shrimp over cilantro Siracha slaw, paired with Jon Boat

Lightly steamed oysters with I-10 Mignonette sauce, paired with I-10 IPA

Prosciutto-wrapped stuffed chicken with braised leeks and English cheddar, with a San Jose Session IPA pan sauce and paired with a limited edition Whole Foods beer

King Street Stout chocolate cupcake with maple stout butter cream and chocolate-dipped pretzel garnish, paired with King Street Stout
