The President of the Kelaniya University Students’ Union Kelum Mudannayaka and a student of the university Dilshan Wijesiri were arrested by the Thalangama Police yesterday, on 15 charges including damaging public property and disrupting the duties of the Police officers during a protest held opposite the Education Ministry on June 10, 2022.
They had been called to the Police station to record a statement yesterday.
According to the Attorney-at-Law who appeared on behalf of the two students, the main charge against them is causing damage to the main gate of the ministry during this protest.
The damage to the gate has been estimated as Rs.230,000, Thalangama Police said.Police were to produce the two students before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court.
