Two Night Stand

Starring: Miles Teller, Analeigh Tipton, Jessica Szohr, Scott Mescudi, Levin Rambin

Directed By: Max Nichols

This little gem has somehow fallen completely off the radar, despite having the buzz worthy Miles Teller as the star. If you are lucky enough to be near one of the 5 theatres that opened this film, then I’d suggest seeing it. If not, VOD is your best option.

Two Night Stand is clearly a mainstream film somehow relegated to limited release box office. The film isn’t terrible, nor is it revelatory. It’s entertaining, and interesting (perhaps moreso than other similar comedies like No Strings Attached). It’s an easy film, as most of it takes place in one apartment (since the premise is that two people are trapped together due to a freak snowstorm after a one night stand). But what works well here is that Teller and Tipton have excellent chemistry, and charisma to spare. Specifically Teller, who brings a surprising amount of heart to the guy you think just wanted a booty call.

Tipton, who got her start on America’s Next Top Model, is funny and charming as a girl who is clearly broken from her last relationship, and on a whim decides on having a hook up with a guy she meets online. This isn’t her world, and her awkward behavior in it makes the film better.

Again, in no way is this a groundbreaking work of art, but it is so much better than the 5 screen release it’s getting. A studio should not be ashamed to release this. I don’t know why it’s not getting any traction. It’s gotta be better than That Awkward Moment, right?

FINAL GRADE: B
