Two names have been proposed for the post of Deputy Speaker, which is vacant due to the resignation of MP Ranjith Siyambalapitiya. Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has nominated
Hambantota District Parliamentarian Ajith Rajapakse for the post of Deputy Speaker while the Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has nominated Matale District Parliamentarian Rohini Kavirathna.
The vote to elect the Deputy Speaker will be held in Parliament on May 17.
