Before Season 3 airs, Outlander is renewed for seasons 5 and 6.
The popular STARZ show, Outlander, is a highly anticipated series to watch. When fans experienced their long period of hiatus, Droughtlander, they never expected to receive such wonderful news as to get two more seasons of their favorite show.
Outlander follows the books by Diana Gabaldon and stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. Wednesday’s announcement by STARZ thrilled fans who took to social media to celebrate that their favorite time-traveling series will be continued. A total of 24 episodes were requested, with each season consisting of 12 episodes. This is a small disappointment since the number of episodes for each season seems to keep declining. The original season comprised of 16 episodes, while season 2 and 3 had 13 a piece.
For those keeping track, the first season followed the book Outlander, while the next season followed the consecutive books. Those are Dragonfly in Amber (Season 2), Voyager (Season 3) and Drums of Autumn (Season 4). Seasons 5 and 6 will also follow with the next in line novels, The Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
