Salty’s Seafood and Rolls & Gumbo at Destin Commons:
Nestled in the heart of the Destin Commons, Salty’s Seafood Rolls & Gumbo finds a home serving Award Winning Gumbo and Succulent Seafood Rolls. Local Chefs Dedrick Gibson and John Sallman have been working on this venture for over a year, and just finalized the details which will bring an enticing new kiosk to Destin, Florida on March 5th, 2012. The two talented chefs, also best friends and family men, have over twenty years of combined culinary experience, and up until now, have been working together at Beach Walk Henderson Park. Sallman will remain the Executive Chef of Beach Walk’s fine dining establishment, and Gibson will take over the lead at Salty’s. On February 2, 2012, I spoke with my friend Sallman, as he expressed his excitement about the opening by saying, “Our food is fresh no fuss food that you can enjoy eating while walking around the Commons!”
In Salty’s January 30, 2012 press release, Gibson spoke of their gumbo and was quoted as saying, “It’s all about the roux. When you get the roux just right, it makes the gumbo go from good to great.”
Salty’s soon-to-be famous Lobster Roll will have succulent lobster meat, gently warmed in butter, and cradled in a lightly toasted bun. It can also be ordered chilled. Land lovers have the option of fresh made Chicken Salad, while a children’s menu will be offered with staples like PB&J. All menu items will be accompanied by fresh Cape Cod chips, making Salty’s a family friendly spot with something to offer everyone! Located between Rave Motion Picture Theater and the children’s play area, Salty’s will bring it’s own charisma to the Destin Commons Center. The word is spreading about Salty’s Seafood Rolls & Gumbo, in a very positive way. Sallman says,“We are truly blessed to be hearing of the tremendous support before we have even opened our doors.”
