Twitter’s Big Action, Removed More Than 65 Lakh ‘wrong’ Content

Twitter has released its latest Transparency Report. In this, information about the action taken on the content that violates its rules has been given. Along with this, the data of requests from governments around the world has also been shared. This Twitter report is from January 1 to June 30, 2022.

According to the Twitter Transparency Report, in the first half of the year 2022, Twitter removed a total of 6,586,109 pieces of content from its platform. These contents were in violation of Twitter’s policy. The special thing is that compared to the second half of the year 2021, the number of content removed in the first half of 2022 was 29 percent more.

The report states that enforcement action was taken on 5,096,272 accounts during this period, which is 20 percent more than in the second half of 2021. Apart from this, 1,618,855 Twitter accounts were suspended due to violation of rules, which is 28 percent more than last time.

53,000 requests from governments around the world

It has been informed in Twitter’s report that from January 1 to June 30, 2022, about 53,000 legal requests were received from governments around the world to remove content. Japan, South Korea, Turkey and India were among the top 4 countries with requests to remove content.

85 countries asked for user data

According to the report, during the first half of the year 2022, Twitter received 16,000 requests from governments of 85 countries for user data. The top-5 countries seeking data include India, America, France, Japan and Germany.

Twitter’s new policy will come from May 18
