Twitter only gets rid of thread replies Months after integration into the Twitter app and in the Twitter web portal.

To make the conversations easier to follow, the thread reply design included lines that connected a tweet to the replies listed below. The idea was that it would be easier to see who replied to the original tweet and who replied to another reply to that tweet - but users expressed enough frustrations about the change for Twitter to do an about-face.
"The new look and feel has made it difficult to read and join Konvos. We're looking for other ways to make this easier," the company said in a follow-up tweet. Other priorities are adding more conversation control and more context about who you're dealing with.

Additionally, Twitter added that it is currently shutting down the experimental prototype version of its app called twttr, which will serve as a testing ground for possible changes to the main Twitter app (as was the case with threaded replies).
"We are pleased about the feedback that you have given us through this run of our prototype app twttr," said the company Tweeted Thursday. "Right now we're turning it off so we can work on new tests to improve the conversation experience on Twitter.
"If you're using twttr, switch to the main Twitter app to keep up to date."
