In November of last year, Twitch has rolled out a beta version of Twitch Studio - a free, simple streaming app intended to be the first step for anyone curious about streaming on the service.
At launch, it was only on PC. Today, however, they are opening the beta version to Mac users.
Twitch is quite open to its target audience here; in a FAQ on the beta version of Mac, they note that even if that should be enough to make things happen for newcomers, they are not looking to convert anyone who is already satisfied with their current delivery configuration. If you're new to streaming, however, they want to guide you.
The app is sort of a one stop shop for the basic functionality that a new streamer might be looking for on the first day, wrapping up things like chat monitoring, a new subscriber / subscriber activity flow and monitoring the layout of your feed in a consistent view.
The company also notes that the Mac version is not as complete as its PC counterpart, because "certain features are not possible on Mac". The application cannot, for example, capture a game directly during rendering; instead, you'll need to give Twitch Studio the ability to capture your entire display. It may sound a little hacky, but the end result should look like most the same for viewers.
And for anyone looking to stream by playing Brawl Stars or other mobile games: the Mac version of Twitch Studio can also capture streams from an iOS device, assuming you've connected it via USB.
