TGDF, Federation of Food and Drink Industry Associations of Turkiye pulled back its 29 GMO applications sent to Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock because of massive civil protest.
Mediterranean Greenpeace was spearheading a campaign named “Yemezler” (Nobody believes\nobody eats) against GMOs for a while and big Turkish and international brands brought the concerns of people to the TGDF. Now the eyes are on Mehdi Eker, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock who previously stated that “Turkey will never produce vegetables or plants with genetically modified organisms “
