Turkish Square Protesters Take Over

Istanbul demonstrators chant anti-government slogansTurkish protesters have taken over Taksim Square (a main square in downtown Istanbul) with what began as an environmental protest protecting the Square from being turned into a shopping mall and an army barracks. But once the police tried to shutdown the protest with heavy-handed measures, the protest changed to one uniting many different activist groups to rally against the nation’s leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Is the Turkish regime the next victim of the Arab Spring?
