Two of the biggest names in the Portuguese art world, Joanna Vasconcelos and Vhils (street artist Alexandre Farto), were commissioned to put their unique stamps on two wind turbines in the middle of Portugal about a year ago. Paulo attended a viewing event for the turbines back in October when I was traveling in the U.S., and figured out an easier way there while we were in Viseu over Easter weekend.
As you can see, the wind farm with 42 turbines is surrounded mainly by villages. Besides the goats, we were the only creatures present the whole time we were there. It’s an interesting location for art, especially for Vhils, who’s known for his urban works. But on the other hand, why confine art to the cities? Art should really be everywhere, including the moon.
