Health care was one of the driving forces in the 2018 election. The concern over health care availability and affordability helped Democrats to take a large margin in the House of Representatives. One might think that Republicans would want to stay away from that issue to give them a better chance in 2020.
But Donald Trump has done just the opposite. Proving that he's not the brightest politician in the country, he instructed his Justice Department to enter the court battle by some GOP states trying to have Obamacare declared unconstitutional. And he did it knowing the Republicans have no plan to replace Obamacare (and extremely unlikely to come up with a plan in the near future that would protect people as well as Obamacare does).
What he has done is to scare Americans into thinking he wants to take their insurance away, including those with pre-existing conditions. And a new Gallup Poll (done between March 1st and 10th of a national sample of 1,039 adults, with a 4 point margin of error) shows that the American public already considered the availability and affordability of health care to be the biggest problem facing the country. They didn't need to be reminded of the Republican incompetence in dealing with that issue.
Once again, Trump has shot himself in the foot -- and shot his fellow Republicans in the back!
