The chart above is from a new ABC News / Washington Post Poll -- done between June 8th and 12th of a random national sample of 1,000 adults, and has a margin of error of 3.5 points. It shows the favorable and unfavorable numbers for both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump -- the presumptive nominees of the Democratic and Republicans parties (and compares those numbers to last months numbers).
Both candidates are upside-down in their favorability. Clinton is viewed favorably by 43% while Trump is viewed favorably by 29% of the general public -- a 14 advantage for Clinton. Trump is viewed unfavorably by 70% while Clinton is viewed unfavorably by 55% of the general public -- a 15 point disadvantage for Trump.
It seems that the public is not real happy with either candidate at this point, but they are a lot more unhappy with Trump than with Clinton. The numbers for men and women are also interesting. Men dislike both candidates equally -- Clinton (35% to 63%) and Trump (36% to 62%). But women definitely favor Clinton more than Trump -- Clinton (51% to 47%) and Trump (23% to 77%). That bodes ill for "the Donald" (since women outnumber men on election day).
