The two presidents prior to Donald Trump both had their detractors, but neither George W. Bush nor Barack Obama started their presidential terms without the support of a majority of Americans. Trump is different. He is the only modern president to start his term of office with an unfavorable rating from the general public. As this poll shows, that unfavorable rating persists.
But it gets even worse for Trump. It turns out that 47% of the public thinks he has violated the Constitution, while 46% don't believe he has.
Trump claims he has a mandate from the American people. The polls, including this one, all say otherwise.
These charts are from a new survey by the Public Religion Research Institute -- done between February 10th and 19th of a random national sample of 2,031 adults, with a margin of error of 2.6 points.
