President Trump invoked the name of George Floyd when he appeared in the White House to celebrate the new issues on Friday.
In one of the few sections of his speech that seemed to come from prepared remarks, Trump said, "Equality of justice under the law must mean that every American receives equal treatment every time they meet the forces of the order, regardless of race, color, sex or creed. They must receive fair treatment from the police. They must receive it. "
"We all saw what happened last week. We cannot let that happen. I hope George looks down and says that this is a great thing that is going on for our country. (It's) a great day for him. It's a great day for everyone. It's a great day in terms of equality, "continued Trump.
"This is what our Constitution requires and this is what our country is the author of," he concluded.
Before his comments on Floyd and equality of justice under the law, Trump's remarks on the protests in the wake of Floyd's death were primarily intended to congratulate labor law enforcement officials to suppress protesters and urge some states to allow the National Guard to enter.
"Call me, we will be ready for them so quickly that their heads will spin," he said, noting the success in Minneapolis, criticizing the city mayor.
