HBO is releasing what they call “Blu-ray With HBO Select” with season four of the cult hit series True Blood. This combo pack is due to be released May 29th. this pack will include five Blu-ray Discs, two DVDs and a digital copy. The digital copy you will be able to get from iTunes, Vudu, Amazon or Ultraviolet. On May 29th they will be also be re-releasing the first three seasons of the show as well in the new packing.
“With the spectacular growth of tablets, smart phones and other connected devices, consumers have shown a decided preference for entertainment products that they can access multiple platforms.”
That is what Henry McGee the president of HBO Home Entertainment had to say about doing different platforms for the consumer.
HBO is also trying to put more focus on the Blu-ray since that is how ou get the best picture and sound. They are also adding special features to the Blu-ray discs like audio commentaries on six episodes. “Inside The Episodes” featuring the writers and also a look at post production with Alan Ball. And for all the die hard Truebies the Blu-ray will also include an exclusive enhanced viewing option.
Now the question comes into if you should trade-in your old True Blood seasons for this new packing. But if you have yet went out and bought the season this might be the way to go.
