As fans of HBO‘s True Blood we definitely appreciate all the pretty faces we get to watch each week but imagine getting paid to spend every day working with the likes of Alexander Skarsgard, Stephen Moyer and Christopher Meloni? That is the very difficult task that faced newcomer Carolyn Hennesy in Season 5 of the hit show. As a high ranking member of The Authority, Hennesy’s character Rosalyn has been actively involved in one of the biggest story lines of the Season thus far, and she recently spoke to Wetpaint about working with three of the shows hottest men, channelling her inner badass, those pesky fangs, and who she would love to work with on the show.
By now I’m sure the female cast members have answered the question of what it is like to work with Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman) a hundred times over, and this time it was Hennesy’s turn. According to her, the hunky viking vampire is even more gorgeous in person than he is on television, as is Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton). But what is most impressive about Skarsgard according to Hennesy is what we may not realize about him:
“what most people don’t know about Alexander is what a fun, charismatic gentleman he is. I think emphasis on the word gentleman.”
When talking about the fact that fans often confuse actors for their characters, Hennesy says that at the end of the day they are all just regular people doing their jobs. While people may want to associate Skarsgard a little too much with Eric Northman, they couldn’t be more wrong according to Hennesy who says that both Moyer and Skarsgard are wonderful people with big hearts.
Moving on to fellow newcomer Christopher Meloni, who plays the head of The Authority Roman, Hennesy has clearly enjoyed the experience of working with him saying:
“Before the first episode aired and interviewers would ask that question, I would say this: He is the epitome of sexy cool, and I believe that statement has been born out. He is intense, and sexy, and uber-cool. He is just lovely to work with. He brings the A-game every single take.”
While playing a powerful vampire on a hit show may sound cool, it seems that those fangs can take some getting used to. According to Hennesy, while talking with the fans could be tricky, she loved the powerful feeling she got from wearing the fangs and she got used to them fairly quickly. She says that while you know it is only temporary, while you are wearing the fangs you feel fierce and like you are transformed into an Amazon:
“For the time that I have those fangs in my mouth, I am dangerous! Really dangerous. I am not to be messed with. Fangs, pearls, and high hair, and watch out!”
Speaking of dangerous, Wetpaint went on to ask Hennesy about that scene where Rosalyn calmly tortured Nora (Lucy Griffiths) and she says she was able to tap into a side you don’t show the world and be cruel and brutal because you know its all in fun. She credits Griffiths for being a good sport in that scene and throwing it right back at her. It was certainly a fun scene to watch, and for those of us who know Hennesy from Cougar Town – it was quite a shock seeing her like that!
Finally, Wetpaint asked Hennesy who in the True Blood cast she would love to work with:
“I’d love to work with Anna Paquin. And I’d especially love to work with Nelsan Ellis, who I just think is dreamy, dreamy, dreamy as an actor. There could be some serious throwing down with Nelsan!”
With the way things were left at the end of the last episode its hard to say where Rosalyn will end up in the new Authority, but one thing is for sure – we can’t wait to see it play out!
