true_blood comics MTVIn 2010, HBO and True Blood creator Alan Ball partnered with IDW Publishing  to create a True Blood comic series. Since then three series have been produced; All Together Now, Tainted Love (Co-Written by True Blood cast member Michael McMillian), and current series The French Quarter. The comics have gotten such an overwhemingly positive response from True Blood Fans that they well now become an ongoing series!

Starting in the spring of 2012, IDW will be releasing a new installment to the series each month. Alan Ball said of the comics:

“The comics are a great way to continue telling True Blood stories off screen…With this new ongoing series, Truebies will be able to find a new comic in stores every month. We’ll also have even more room to create in-depth drama and further explore the world of Bon Temps.”

IDW is equally happy about this new development in the partnership.  According to COO Greg Goldstein, an ongoing series has been something fans have been asking for since the comics first started so for IDW and HBO to be able to offer it has been a positive step forward.

The first two series, All Together Now and Tainted Love is available now over at the HBO shop. The latter is also available in the iTunes Store as an iBook so be sure to check them out!
