There is no denying that a lot of innovation is happening on the design front of smartphones. Earlier we used to be awed by the artistic renders of concepts phones and often wondered how would it feel like holding these phones, this all has become reality now. The original groundbreaking bezel-less phone was the Sharp Aquos Crystal however that remained very exclusive and limited device.
All of a sudden we had a few innovative Bezel-Less phones that came in at the fag end of the year and the quest for a futuristic phone, rekindled. We heard rumours about Sharp Corner R, Then came Mi Mix which had taken the tech fraternity by surprise and yesterday, Honor announced the Honor Magic. Though Sharp corner R was never officially unveiled but is indeed drop dead gorgeous phone like the other two.

The problem with these devices was that either they were concept phones or they are not supposed to be retailed outside China. However, we have some good news here, a few brands are trying to bring bezel-less phones in mainstream and in 2107 we may see some of them getting launched. Let us have a look at the upcoming bezel-less phones in 2017
Mi Mix 2
If you think Mi Mix started the game, Mi Mix 2 will take up the ante. The first Bezel-less phone from Xiaomi, came with 91.3% screen to body ratio, was very well received and got rave reviews. Mi Mix 2 is in works and is said to come with a 100% screen to body ratio i.e true bezel-less and will also have a 2K resolution (1080 x 2040 pixels) display. Leakes suggest that Mi Mix 2 may come with a 6.4-inch screen size like the original Mi Mix and will come with dual camera setup on the back.
Meizu Pro 6 Edge / Meizu Pro 7
OK so we heard it, then their Chairman, Jack Wong/Huáng Zhāng denied it. Now we get to see the leaks again. On the front, Meizu’s Bezel-Less Phone has absolutely nothing on three sides and the mBack home button located at the “chin”. The chin on Meizu Pro 6/Meizu Pro 7 is thinner than the one on Mi Mix. A front camera is placed at the exact same location like the Mi Mix
Elephone S8
Elephone is quite an unfamiliar name to many, but its phones sell like hot cakes in China. This Chinese company is also coming up with a device that is nothing less than spectacular. Apart from being Bezel-Less from 3 sides, Elephone S8 is said to also have curved edges like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The Elephone S8 will feature 128GB of internal storage and an Helio X27 SoC clocked at 2.6 GHz.
Going by the Rumours, Samsung Galaxy S8 will only come with dual edged display and even Apple is working on a borderless iPhone 8. We’ve even heard about a ZTE Nubia Bezel-less device that is said to have the rear panel made out of either metal, wood or leather. However not much is knows about the device.
We are not sure about which all devices will turn out to be true and further will be materialised into a production ready handset that anyone to purchase but as phones with 6GB RAM came and conquered, bezel-less phone is what everybody seems to be waiting for.
