Trinity War Chapters 1,2 and 3 Review

The Trinity War has been teased since the beginning of the new 52. Little was known about the plot or premise. I assumed it would include Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman going to war with each other as they are commonly known as the trinity of DC. I also figured Pandora would have something to do with it. Then with the Trinity of Sin getting a lot of focus I figured it would be a war between them…which sounded cool but my excitement lessened a bit. THEN the JLA was created and I knew exactly what the trinity war was referring to. The Justice League, the Justice League of America and the Justice League Dark! Oh my, wow. This is the best thing that could happen. Now the question is, can they actually pull this off?

So far? YES! These first three chapters have been amazing. Superman is now a murderer. Wonder Woman has fractioned off of the JL and has started her own team in search of Pandora and her box. Batman has created his own team to stop Wonder Woman as he has been warned if she finds Pandora the world will end. Meanwhile Superman has been broken out of prison with his own team and it now on the hunt to find who he believes has possessed him and caused him to murder. Wow. Geoff John and Jeff Lemire are really showing off in this story. They are power house authors and they are letting their creativity flow widely using all of the a-list characters in the DCU New 52. I couldn’t be more satisfied with this story so far and am absolutely loving the questions being asked and the way they have answered some so far. At comic-con it was spoiled that the bad guys will win this war…I have no idea what that means, but I can’t wait to see how that unfolds and what this will mean for the new 52 moving forward. I love that DC is taking some risks and I really hope this pays off and starts a new trend in comics to not be afraid to change up the status quo. I also love when Wonder Woman looses it. She is the best in stories like this one or Flashpoint. A dangerous Wonder Woman is my favorite kind to read. 5/5
