Dear all, it has happened,
The surviving quince has succombed to gravity (aka mavity) and has fallen. The birds had already had a peck or two and I will leave it for them to finish. What a beautifully shaped quince it is and I did have a compulsory sniff of its wonderful fragrance.
I took a moment to pause and enjoy the foliage, this is now one of the last trees to still have some leaves left. Every year I marvel at the red line that progresses its way from the leaf stem, into the leaf and then just complete its journey before the leaf falls.
Next job will be some winter pruning, I need to reduce the height of the tree so that the fruit will be pickable. Oh yes I live in hope, there will be fruit next year, if I believe it strongly enough it will happen.
