What I love about European cities is that they all look very different from above. This is definitely the case for Lisbon because most of its buildings have red roofs that together build a picturesque sight. You don’t need to take a helicopter to see Lisbon from above; All you need to do is ride the Santa Justa Elevator in the Baixa (downtown) district. The ride is short and the elevator is not very tall, but because Lisbon’s buildings are short, the view from above is breathtaking and all encompassing.
Built from primarily iron, glass, and cement, the Santa Justa Elevator features a neo-gothic style that’s extremely unique. Is it just me, or does it kind of remind you of Lord of the Rings?
