Travel Dominates the List of Brit’s Top 50 Ambitions

Travelling the world, seeing the Northern Lights and seeing all Seven Wonders of the World have all appeared on a list of the 50 things the average adult would love to do- but won’t get the time to complete. The list of achievements is dominated by foreign jaunts, with the Great Wall of China, the Inca Trail and Antarctica all appearing in the Top 10.

Aside from becoming a millionaire, clearing your mortgage and changing people’s lives, the Top 10 is completely made up of the world’s most beautiful and aspired to destinations.

Sadly, researchers revealed that most people won’t tick off more than five items from their to-do list in their lifetime.

A spokesman for Helly Hansen, which commissioned the study of 2,000 adults said:

“It’s fantastic to see that so many people still have a passion for taking to the outdoors in order to experience new challenges, but a real shame to see that so many may not achieve life-long ambitions because of a lack of faith in their own ability.

“Setting yourself a yearly goal can be a great motivator, and whether your goal is to run a marathon, climb a mountain or simply improve your general health and well-being, it is worth investing in the appropriate technical clothing to enhance your performance and to keep you looking and feeling confident when it really matters.”

Riding the Orient Express, going on an African safari and driving Route 66 also made the Top 20, alongside the childhood favorite Lapland.

Swimming with dolphins, a holiday favourite, also made the list, whilst some Brits wanted to give up on UK life altogether- simply ‘emigrating’ came in at number 20, while a more optimistic and higher-reaching selection went for owning their own island (22).

Improving ones skill set is among the other common aims, learning a language or learning an instrument such as piano, drums or guitar both featured highly.

More random inclusions on the top 50 list include making love to a supermodel, visiting a haunted house, and acting as an extra in a Hollywood movie.

Getting a tattoo, keeping a diary and spending  =a month without any technology are among the more slightly more achievable ambitions.

But for 35% of people polled, there simply isn’t enough time in the day to achieve anything on their to-do lists.

A fifth of people worry that if they undertake activities such as sky diving, surfing or doing an army assault course they’ll get hurt or injured, while 22% don’t think they are fit enough to do any of these things.

A depressing 12% of Brits admit they simply don’t have much ambition.

When asked about what is most important in life, more than half of Brits aspire to do better financially in the future.

Half of Brits have plans to expand their family, four in 10 are determined to go traveling and a third want to learn new things.

But 45% know they need to be more adventurous in order to achieve some of the things they dream of doing.
